Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
