Vinted Users Express Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
